Walter Lee Baskin, Sr.

January 8, 1953 - August 22, 2019

Mr. Walter Lee Baskin, Sr., age 66, resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville.

Funeral services for Mr. Baskin will be held on Wednesday, August 28th at 12 Noon in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Marvin Loggins officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Born January 8, 1953 in Winona, MS he was the son of the late Sam Baskin Sr. and the late L.A. Butts Newman and husband of Ethel Loggins Baskin. He worked in construction as a concrete finisher and was a member of Life Changing Fellowship Church. His hobbies included yardwork, tinkering with his truck and watching Washington Redskins football.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his sons: Walter Baskin, Jr. and Christopher Lee Baskin, both of Columbia; daughter: Tarsia Baskin of Columbia; sisters: Tonya Henderson of Paducah, KY, Brenda McKinney of Alaska, Sherry Houston, Ann Newman and Josephine Newman, all of Winona, MS; brothers: Sam (Ruby Jean) Baskin, Jr of Marietta, GA, Sandy (Wilma) Newman of Winona, MS and William Baskin, Calvin Baskin and Kenny Baskin, all of Kentucky; 12 grandchildren; 7 brothers and sisters-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Richard Baskin.
