Tim Oakley

February 2, 1966 - August 20, 2024

Tim, born February 2, 1966, changed his residency from this earthly world to his heavenly address on August, 20, 2024.

On Saturday October 12, 2024, Tim will be carried from Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia, TN to Hope Church in Centerville, TN in his Kenworth for a Celebration of Life.  Trucks, Bikes and anyone joining the escort should be at Heritage Funeral Home by 8:30 AM.  A service will be held at Hope Church at 10:30 am followed by lunch and time to share the stories that Tim told.  He will be laid to rest in Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbia, TN at 2:30 pm following the Celebration of Life.

Tim was born in Columbia Tn. to the late Walter Weckerly Oakley, III and Elenore Joyce (Roland) Oakley.  He is survived by his wife Pilar L. (Rinaldo) Oakley, Children: Bethany (husband Travis) Ring of Duck River, TN., Bryan (wife Ashley) Oakley of Raleigh, NC, Elizabeth Sanchez, of Texas City Tx, and Allison (late husband Harry) Miller, of Bristol, TN.  Surviving Grand Children: Adin Elis, Lili, & Jax Sanchez, and Slade Fox; Siblings: Fred M. (J.J.) (wife Linda) Oakley of Culleoka TN., Karen L. Oakley of Columbia TN. and M. Dawn Oakley of Columbia TN.

Since he was six years old, Tim was raised by his grand-parents, the late Fred & Lillie (Mamaw & Papaw) Roland of Columbia TN., where he grew up on a large farm, and spent weekends at their second home on the Tennessee River.  From them he learned to love the river, land, wildlife and anything with a motor.  He was taught by example to be honest, charitable, and God fearing.  One of his lifelong desires was to be buried beside his “Father”, Papaw.  That will happen.

Tim’s love of “big rigs” started at an early age and he never wavered from it.  He would run around the house singing the song Convoy all day long.  He spent his whole adult life on the road racking up over 5 million miles across the U.S. and opening his own trucking company, Bryan Transport Inc.  He was active in the Church and was known to work on vehicles for those in need without any expectation of payment. Building dragsters became not only a hobby but a family affair.

In 2019, Tim met his sole-mate Pilar and they married in 2020 at Springer House in Centerville, TN on June 13th, Mamaw and Papaw’s anniversary.  It was meant to be as Springer House only became available 5 weeks before the date.  They lived happily on the Tennessee River in their houseboat.

Honorary Pallbearers are Randal Ward, Marion, (J.J.) Oakley, Tevin Landfair, Jesse Harvey, Victor Tatum, Stacey Capps, Adam James, Tyler Farley and Leslie Harrison.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Tim’s name to: Women Are Safe, Hope Church, Hope in Recovery or Hope Youth.
