Wanda Marie Alexander

Wanda Marie Clayton Alexander, age 76, a resident of Columbia, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Maury Reginal Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church with Bro. Bob Vassar officiating. Burial will follow in Bonner Town Cemetery in Lawrence County. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home and again on Wednesday from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at the church. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on April 26, 1944 in Lawrenceburg, Wanda was the daughter of the late Wylie Clayton and the late Winifred Marie Adams Clayton Moore. She retired from Pioneer Dock Equipment where she worked as an accounting clerk. She married David Alexander on August 14, 1964 and together they had three children. He preceded her in death on November 6, 2015. Wanda was a true people person who loved reading and often enjoyed cross stitching. She was a member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church where she loved attending. Above all, she was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by children: Amy (Steven) Hickman of Lynnville, TN, Lori Alexander of Columbia, TN, Michael (Ashley) Alexander of Greenbrier, TN; brother, Ray (Elvina) Clayton of Cynthiana, KY; sister in law, Vicky Clayton of Nashville, TN; brother in law, Rick Alexander of Columbia, TN; grandchildren: Adam Hickman, Sarah Alexander, Emily Alexander; great grandchildren: Jaycee Hickman and Briar Hickman; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Clayton and step father, M D Moore.

Pallbearers will be: Michael Massey, Michael Johns, Adam Hickman, Steven Hickman, Glenn Alexander, and Charles Alexander. Honorary pallbearers will include: The Pleasant Heights Baptist Church Choir, Harlan Kelley, Wylie Clayton, and Shane Clayton.
