Wanda Helmick, age 78, a resident of Lawrenceburg and formerly of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2018 at her residence.
Funeral services for Wanda will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 25th, in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in the Morton Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 12Noon on Sunday until service time at Heritage Funeral Home.
Born August 8, 1940 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Lois Thomas West and the wife of the late Bobby Helmick. She retired from Central High School as a cafeteria assistant and she was a member of Williamsport Baptist Church. She loved being a caregiver to people. Her hobbies included fishing, camping, dancing, going to yard sales and to wrestling matches.
She is survived by her chosen children: Jacquelyn Kennedy and Debbie Akins, both of Lawrenceburg, Macy Thompson of Columbia, Thomas Akins of Lawrenceburg; nephews: Jack (Lynn) West of Columbia, Jimmy Ray West of Lewisburg, Timmy Dale Hammond and Johnny Sims, both of Nashville, Jimmy Sims of Mt. Pleasant and Bobby Sims, Lonnie Sims and Billy Sims, all of Florida. She was preceded in death by a niece: Doris Ann Staggs.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
