William Boyd Malugin

Mr. William Boyd Malugin, age 86, husband of Helen Malugin, and a resident of Santa Fe, passed away Monday morning, June 28, 2021, at Life Care Center.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Gary Fewell officiating. Burial will follow in Potts Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on March 28, 1935, in Hickman County, Boyd was the son of the late David Crockett Malugin and the late Maude McCandless Malugin. He married Helen Potts on November 9, 1957, and together they had two sons. He worked many years for Union Carbide before retiring in 1994. Boyd and his wife were avid campers; he also loved restoring old cars and trucks. He was a long-time member of Elmore Church of the Nazarene.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Tony (Sandra) Malugin of Columbia, TN, Tim (Bethany) Malugin of Mobile, AL, brothers, Thomas (Helen) Malugin of Primm Springs, TN, Lesley Malugin of Columbia, TN, grandchildren, Kaylee (Chase) Laws, Brittany (Paul) Carlton, Jesse Rockwell, Micaiah Rockwell, great grandchildren, Caiden, Miles, Ethan, Julian, Tristin, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Leonard Malugin, James Malugin, Paul Malugin, Willine Roberts, Clara Mae Slaughter, Cora Lee Beard, and Viola McCord.

Pallbearers will be Jason Malugin, David Rochelle, Bruce Odom, Justin Odom, Stacey Malugin, Jerry Crumley, Freddie Slaughter, and James Black. Honorary pallbearers will include Allen Tate, Randy Davidson, George Tate, Wendell Potts, Chris Webb, Brian Adkisson, the members of Elmore Church of the Nazarene, and members of the Water Valley Community Club.
