William David "Casey" Grooms

Mr. William David “Casey” Grooms, age 77, a resident of Paris, Tennessee, previously of Murray, Kentucky, passed away Monday, December 13, 2021, at Henry County Healthcare Center and Plumley Rehabilitation.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Joe Page officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will also be held on Wednesday from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on April 7, 1944, in Maury County, Tennessee, Casey was the son of the late Robert Perry Grooms and the late Maggie Norman Grooms. He worked with Starks Well Drilling in Kentucky for fifty-three years, working up until the spring of this year, and was always the first one to arrive in the mornings. Together they drilled hundreds of wells in west Kentucky and west Tennessee. In true driller fashion, Dave, as he was best known in Kentucky, could remember the location and depth of each well. His knowledge was of great value as he trained the second and third generations. He was considered a member of the Starks’ family and will be greatly missed. A true outdoorsman, he loved dove hunting, fishing, and training black labs to hunt.

He is survived by his companion, Elaine McDaniel of Paris, TN, daughter, Vicky (Robert) Biggs of Chapmansboro, TN, siblings, Bobby Grooms of Columbia, TN, Ronald Grooms of Columbia, TN, Leon (Rita) Grooms of Michigan, Floye (Roger) Malugin of Columbia, TN, Joye (Danny) Davidson of Columbia, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Sylvia Pigg, Donald Grooms, Linda Aydelott, and Jimmy Grooms.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Starks, Keith Starks, Roger Malugin, Michael McDaniel, Robert Biggs, and Danny Davidson. Paul McDaniel will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
