William David "Dave" Richey

William David “Dave” Richey, age 66, a resident of Spring Hill, Tennessee passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday December 2, 2021, at Saint Thomas Rutherford Medical Center.

A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Nativity, 2793 Buckner Lane, Thompson Station, Tennessee. A visitation will precede the Mass at 9:30 AM in the Narthex. Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on September 16, 1955, in Greenville, South Carolina, Dave was the son of Verline (McAdams) Richey and James Richey, both whom preceded him in death. Dave enjoyed serving his country in the United States Coast Guard and retired after achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer (PERS 4). After retirement, he established a successful handyman business in O’Fallon, Illinois and was a well-known member of the O’Fallon community. He is fondly remembered as driving his red pick-up truck to and from job sites in O’Fallon. Dave was a member of the Saint Clare of Assisi Catholic Parish where he spent many hours volunteering and helping others. A Stations of the Cross garden he built is today a place of prayer for many Saint Clare Catholic School students. Being an avid and talented gardener, Dave made everything grow. He also enjoyed music, playing the guitar and stamp collecting. Dave spent many joyful times with his children and four grandchildren, whom he dearly loved and supported. Dave was a kind soul with a wonderful sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dave is survived by life-long friend and former spouse, Sharon Richey, son, David Richey, of Lakewood, CO, daughter, Carol (Richey) Miller of Spring Hill, TN, grandchildren, Kylie Richey, Kinsley Miller, Juniper Richey, and Jackson Miller, daughter-in-law, Shaun Richey, son-in-law, Nathan Miller, brother, Johnny Richey, and sisters, Anne Charping and Jane Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Mack Richey and sister, Sue (Richey) Madden.
