William Edgar King of Columbia

William Edgar King, age 78, resident of Columbia and formerly of Lewisburg, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at his residence.

William was born on February 4, 1945, in Grundy County, Tennessee, the son of the late Virgil Lee King and the late Mary Francis King. He was a devoted employee of Empire Gas Company for many years and had a passion for working on cars. William was known for his outspoken, friendly, and outgoing personality. He had a caring and nurturing spirit, always looking out for others and making sure everyone was okay. Above all else, he cherished his family.

He is survived by his son, Calvin (Carolyn) Bryant of Columbia; brothers, George Willard (Donna) King of McMinnville, Paul Andrew (Sandra) King of Rock Island, and Johnny Melvin (Janet) King of Smithville; sister, Linda Richardson of McMinnville; grandchildren, Mary Jane King, Tyler Martin, MaKayla Martin, Maranda Martin, and Mariyah Martin, all of Columbia; as well as several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

William was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mildred Lorene King; his son, James Ray King; brothers, Charles Kenneth King and Roy Chris King; and sister, Freda Lois Darden.
