William Howard Mobley

November 26, 1930 — July 10, 2019

Mr. William Howard Mobley, age 88, husband of Verlynn Marie Mobley, and a resident of Spring Hill, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Tri Star Spring Hill ER.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 3-7PM at Heritage Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in the Garden of Eternity in Maury Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on November 26, 1930 in Hickman County, William was the son of the late Wilford Otey Mobley and the late Nora Evelynn Nichols Mobley. He attended Shady Grove Elementary School and was a graduate of Hickman County High School. He served his country in the United States Army and worked thirty-four years as a bindery man for Baird-Ward Printing Company. He married Verlynn Marie Arnold on July 18, 1956 and together they had three children. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. William also enjoyed woodworking. He was of the Church of Christ faith.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons: Billy Wayne (Corrinne) Mobley of Spring Hill, James Wallace (Shirley) Mobley of Spring Hill; brother: Wilford O. (Brenda) Mobley, Jr. of Tiptonville; sisters: Imogene (Carl “Snooks”) Kelley of Williamsport, Faye (Edgar) Burns of Nunnelly, Janice (Ronnie) Reed of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: William Earl Mobley, Matthew Wayne Mobley, Audra Elaine (Robbie) McKenzie, Andrew Mitchell Mobley, Abigail Marie Mobley, Jeremiah Lane Mobley; two great grandchildren: Lydia McKenzie and Graceland Mobley; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Charles A. Mobley; daughter in law: Terie Mobley; brothers: John Walker Mobley, Walter Lewis Mobley, Charles Otey Mobley; sister: Ailene Lukkett; and brother in law: Horace Lukkett.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project: 223 Rosa L Parks Ave. Suite 301, Nashville, TN 37203 or to the American Diabetes Association: 220 Great Circle Rd., Nashville, TN 37228.
