Zada Mae Tomlin

Zada Mae Tomlin, age 83, and a resident of Lewisburg, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at her residence.  

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Hargrove Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. 

Born on October 1, 1941, in Giles County, Tennessee, Zada was the daughter of the late James Noah Thompson and the late Icee Pearl Hardin Thompson. 

Zada enjoyed painting and found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved attending flea markets, where she shared her unique finds with others. She spent countless hours nurturing her flowers and plants, especially her cherished irises and petunias. She had a great love for cooking, with her meals becoming beloved family traditions.

Zada and her husband, Vernon, owned and operated a used merchandise store, Variety Mart, on the square in Lewisburg for over fifteen years. She also enjoyed dancing, fishing, and relaxing with her favorite TV show, The Young and the Restless. She brought unconditional love and support to her family and welcomed all into their home. Her kindness, laughter, and gentle presence will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Zada is survived by her sons, John (Bren)Tomlin of Mt. Pleasant, James (Marie) Tomlin of Lewisburg, and Vernon Eugene Tomlin, Jr. of Lewisburg; twin sister, Vada Mae (Ron) Richardson of Columbia; grandchildren, Brettney Champion, Jeremy (Shanna) Tomlin, Carly Tomlin (Gary Heaton), Blake Tomlin, Corey Medley, Bradley Wimberley, John Cook, and Chris Petty, thirteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Eugene Tomlin, Sr., son, Bobby Ray Tomlin, and 9 siblings.

Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
