Vicki Bruno

May 15, 1943 — November 25, 2023

Vicki Bruno, a resident of Madison, Tennessee, previously of Farmington, New Mexico, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Morning Pointe of Spring Hill at the age of 80.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 2:30pm at the Holy Family Anglican Church, VFW Post 9851, 73 New Shackle Island Road, Hendersonville, Tennessee with Rev. Jeffrey Jones officiating.  Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on May 15, 1943, Vicki was the cherished daughter of the late Harry Eugene Martin and the late Virginia Coy Martin. She dedicated her life to education, earning her Bachelor's of Science from Purdue College in 1965 and later achieving her Master's in Deaf Education from Gallaudet University in 1993. Vicki's passion for teaching led her to a fulfilling career of 30 years, where she touched the lives of many young special needs children.

Vicki's commitment to education extended beyond the classroom, as she served as the state president of the Division of Early Childhood of the Council of Exceptional Children and the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Her leadership and advocacy positively impacted the field of early childhood education.  Her objective was to foster the growth and development of deaf and hard of hearing children with an educational program that promotes self esteem, positive modeling, and family, community, and cultural awareness.

A faithful member of Holy Family Anglican Church and former member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Farmington, New Mexico and Daughters of the Holy Cross.   Vicki found solace and community in her spiritual life. Her devotion to her faith enriched her life and the lives of those around her.

Vicki is survived by her loving daughter, Shannon Fyke of Goodlettsville, brothers Greg (Jeannie) Martin and Chris (Kathy) Martin, grandchildren Kristen (Chris) Davis and Caleb Cotner, and great-grandchild Jackson Eli Davis. She leaves behind a legacy of love and wisdom that will be cherished by her family and friends.


In addition to her parents, Vicki was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Bruno, her son Shane Christopher Kelly, son-in-law John Fyke, and stepson Jimmy Bruno .
